READING IS GOOD FOR YOUR BRAIN!

This year your child will learn a C.A.F.E of strategies to help them be more strategic, thinking readers.
C - comprehension... I understand what I am reading.
A - accuracy... I read the words.
F - fluency...I read accurately, with expression, and understand what I read.
E - expand vocabulary...I know, find, and use interesting words.

Students will learn these strategies through read-alouds and shared reading. I will model these strategies with the whole class as well as teach them in small group settings.
Our class will create an environment where students will talk about their reading development, set goals for themselves, and track their growth!

Our Daily 5 allows students to foster literacy independence. Students will be engaged in reading to self, reading to someone, and listening to reading. These will be daily choices for each child. While students are engaged in the DAILY 5 I will be working with small groups on reading skills and strategies each child needs. I will also work with individual students through conferencing to check on their reading goals.
