Hi! I'm Amanda Holleyman, a 1st grade teacher currently starting my ninth year here at Lago Vista Elementary!
I have six previous years of experience in first grade. The last two years, I've enjoyed teaching and working with 4th grade students. Being a person who enjoys change occasionally, my fourth graders were refreshing and a joy to know. They also helped me see some areas where students may need more focus early on. So, I'm eager to be back in first grade with a renewed perspective of where students are headed academically in the next few years.
I appreciate our community and its wonderful families who support our schools. Our students are a direct reflection of that dedication.
In first grade my goal is for students to love learning. This important year marks several milestones for children as they become fluent readers and writers. They learn to reason mathematically and develop instant recall of many addition and subtraction facts. First graders are naturally inquisitive and excited about science, which is readily fostered through exploration. We also focus on being good citizens in a wonderful and free country, building unity while valuing our diversity.
I believe a successful classroom is based on mutual respect, hard work, communication, and fun. My goal is to treat students as individuals with fairness and high expectations.
