ESL pull-out is a 30 minute, small group instructional program that takes place in the ESL room with Ms. Evans. Each group begins with a read-aloud and a song or poem to reinforce rhymes and promote fluency. The remainder of the time is spent using a variety of activities, games, and instructional strategies to develop literacy concepts, phonological awareness, letter knowledge, letter/sound relationships, and spelling patterns. In preparation for learning to read, we also work on sight words, anchor words, and high frequency words.

This year I will be spending more time in classrooms, working with the ESL students and their teachers on academic vocabulary. I collaborate with each child's classroom teacher to monitor progress and academic achievement.
