Learn to think so you can think and learn!

LVES Gifted and Talented Program
Welcome to my page. I am Cindy Harding-Woodhull, teacher for the talented and gifted at the elementary. This is my twenty third year to teach on this campus and my ninth year as the GT teacher. I am passionate about teaching kids to think and reason. My goal for my students is for them to become life-long learners, with the tools and resources they need to continually research new topics and develop new skills. When I am not teaching I am usually busy with my three teenagers and their many activities or I am out birdwatching, letterboxing, geocaching or reading. I hope you enjoy my web page!
NEW! Podcasting Now Available

What are the groups learning?
All groups will have the opportunity to practice logic, thinking skills and problem solving through the unit studies and warm up activities. See your child's grade level below to find out what is currently happening in our class.
Fantastic First Grade
First graders are exploring the writings of author Robert Munsch. The group is exploring character, setting, problem and resolution in this author's study.
Super Second Grade
What n the world? Students are learning about a nation of their choice in this short social studies unit. The children will have the opportunity to practice some researching skills as well as share their fabulous findings with classmates.
Thrilling Third Grade
Ancient Egypt is the focus of our unit right now. Students are learning about this amazing civilization. The group is also mummifying apple slices in an attempt to determine which salts or salt combinations produce the best drying without rot. Ask your child about the nine man morris game and how to keep score with Egyptian numerals.
Fantastic Fourth Grade
Fourth grade has become a toy company, complete with logos, mottos, a design team and product launch. This unit teaches how a business functions.
Fabulous Fifth Grade
Architects at work! Fifth graders must stay within budget, figure their cost per square footage, follow building codes and use their best problem solving strategies to design a house for their simulated family.
