Learn to think so you can think and learn!

LVES Gifted and Talented Program
Welcome to my page. I am Cindy Harding-Woodhull, teacher for the talented and gifted at the elementary. This is my twenty sixth year to teach on this campus and my twelfth year as the GT teacher. I am passionate about teaching kids to think and reason. My goal for my students is for them to become life-long learners, with the tools and resources they need to continually research new topics and develop new skills.
My husband Bill and I have lived in Lago Vista since 1985 and have raised our three children here. Amy, our youngest is a senior, Alex is a 2011 Lago Vista grad, Alaina, the oldest, is a recent UT grad. (Hook'em Horns!) When I am not teaching I stay busy birdwatching, letterboxing, geocaching, watching movies, cooking or reading. I hope you enjoy my web page!
Welcome Back!!
Did you have a great summer break? Are you ready to work hard and learn cool new information and skills. What did you do over the summer? I spent most of July traveling with my daughter, son and dad (who is 84). We looked at schools Amy might want to attend-Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt and Northwestern. We drove almost 5000 miles and also saw parts of Canada, Niagara Falls, Atlantic Beach and Washington D.C. We enjoyed getting out of the relentless Texas heat for a bit but it was nice to get home after all the time on the road. We also painted the inside and outside of our house. I think I like traveling better than painting. :)
When does my child have GT?
GT Classes will meet Tueday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday right now. Mondays I will be busy testing students and meeting with classroom teachers.

Kindergarten 1:00-1:30
1st Grade: 1:30-2:30
2nd Grade: 10:05-11:05
3rd Grade: 7:55-8:55
4th Grade: 11:10-12:10
5th Grade: 9:00-10:00

Regular class schedule begins Tuesday August 30th. Kindergarten students will be screened in January and further testing will be administered to promising candidates. GT services will begin in March for Kindergarten students who qualify.

What if I think my child may be gifted?
Please make an appointment to visit with me or send me an email. I would love to hear about your child. There is a difference between being bright and being gifted. The website hoagiesgifted.com is an excellent resource to help parents begin to sort out what it means to be gifted. If you choose to have your child tested for possible placement in the GT program, please be aware that this process can take, on average, two to three weeks. This includes time for testing, gathering information about your child, and committee deliberations about the student's qualifications for the GT program.
