CHAMPIONS are made when no one is watching.
Inks Lake Invitational - August 30th
This meet was run as a three-person relay. Each athlete ran 1.5 miles. We had one relay team enter and it was made up of Angelica Guile, Grisel Cantera, and Hannah Iski. Angelica ran her 1.5 mile in 7:51, Hannah ran it in 8:00, and Grisel ran 1.5 miles in 8:09. The girls had a lot of fun and it was a great way to start out the season!
Texas State Invitational - September 6th
This was our first real meet of the year. Our boys team placed 6th overall and were led by Bryan Jacobs, who placed 5th with a time of 17:33. THIS TIME BROKE THE OLD SCHOOL RECORD BY 11 SECONDS! Misa Balderas placed 10th with a time of 18:23. The Donahue boys rounded out our team with Ryan running a 22:36, Frank a 23:24, and Luke a 32:40. We were so excited to have a complete boys team and feel this is a great start for them. The girls only had three competing. Grisel Cantera ran a 16:36, Angelica Guile ran a 16:44, and Audry Waddle finished it up with a 19:15. The ladies all set goals before the race and all three met their goals. We are looking forward to our next meet so we can compete as a team.
Cedar Park Invitational - September 20th
Teams from 1A-4A competed in our division at this meet. Despite the tough competition, a fall, a confusing course :), and the heat, the Vikings did great!

Bryan placed 26th out of 171 boys with a time of 17:39. Misa ran a his 5K in 19:18, Frank in 21:27, Ryan in 21:48, and Luke in 28:52. The boys team placed 20th overall.

The girls competed with 146 other athletes and all improved their times. Courtney ran a 15:11, Hannah a 15:12, and Grisel a 15:48. We still didn't have enough for a team, but are hoping by next week we will.

Coach Chilek is very proud of her kiddos!
Salado Invitational - September 27
Even though only three girls competed at this meet, all three ladies set new personal records. Angelica Guile took almost two full minutes off her personal best running a 14:47. Grisel Cantera also ran her best this season at a 15:00. Audrey Waddle improved her personal best by OVER two minutes running a 17:02.
Bryan Jacobs showed the district teams who attended this meet that he's someone to keep up with. He finished 3rd overall with a time of 17:46. Misa Balderas also received a medal finishing 15th with a 19:10. The "Donacrew" contributed to the 8th place team finish with Ryan running a 22:41, Frank a 23:29, and Luke a 28:26.
The athletes will run this same course again in a month at the District meet.
McNeil Invitational - October 4th
This meet proved to be a tough one...not only because the course, but several other factors challenged the Vikings as they competed with over 300 athletes in each division. Among the challenges were 90 degree heat, falls, tree branches, false starts, and dust. The kiddos did the best they could and had fun. Times weren't the best, so they won't be posted, but the smiles and laughter made up for them... and that's what really matters! :) We will be taking a much needed rest, then will compete in one last meet before our district meet on the 27th.
