Destination Imagination is a creative problem-solving program in which students work as a team to select one of five challenges, interpret the challenge, and solve the challenge. The team, consisting of no more than 7 members, will present their challenge solution in the form of a skit or play. Team members write the script, design the set, and create their own costumes. The entire solution will be presented to a panel of 6-8 judges at the Capital Region Competition in March.
Each year, over two thousand (2000) Texas creative problem solving teams compete throughout the state. Many teams will begin working in September, but others begin the process later in the year. After weeks and months of preparation, the teams will begin competition at the regional level during the months of February and March. There are sixteen Texas Destination ImagiNation regions in Texas. The winning teams will advance to the Affiliate Tournament, April 13 – 14 at The University of Texas at Dallas. The first and second place winners will advance to the global tournament to be held at the University of Tennessee. |
