Two girls teams from LV ran the Brushy Creek relay race against 50 other relay teams. The team of Kristen Meyer (10:29), Dione Cantera (11:14), and Kelsey Abbott (9:48) finished 2nd overall in the JV division, completing the 3.5 mile course in 31:31. Their 1.5 mile splits are listed by their name. Their time would have earned them 5th place in the VG 1A-3A division, and the highest finishing 2A school.
The second team of Nicki Gloris (11:10), Alissa Liechty (12:06), and Melanie Locklear (11:37) finished 11th overall in the JV division. They completed the 3.5 mile course in 34:53.

Sept 24-Cedar Park Invitational @ CPHS
RESULTS:
We had another solid showing for our LV Cross Country team this weekend. This is a meet in which LV was the smallest public school participating in the meet. That said, our objective was to race against ourselves and the clock-looking to improve on our previous week's times. The VG were successful in that. The results were as follows:

Oct 1-McNeil Invitational @ Old Settler's Park
RESULTS:
We had another solid meet, with a couple runners getting season bests. This is particularly encouraging with the amount of training we have been logging in over the last few weeks. I've attached the website that has all times from the meet. LV ran in the 1-3A division Varsity Girls and the JV Girls and JV Boys division.

Oct 7th-Manor Invitational @ MHS
RESULTS:
The XC team had a productive day at the Manor Mustang Invitational. Kelsey Abbott led the girls team with a top 15 finish and a time of 13:03. She did the pace making for the rest of the varsity squad for the first mile in order to get the group to run together and a bit faster than their normal pace. Upon hitting the 1st mile mark, she was instructed to run how she felt. Her mile splits were approx, 6:45 and 6:18, so I feel a season best is quickly approaching. The rest of the girls ran their season best and gained quite a bit of confidence heading into the district meet. Of the 4 district teams attending this meet, we placed second, 3 minutes behind Rogers and 25 seconds ahead of Academy. It will be an exciting district race.
Due to the recent drought, the boys course changed and was only 2.7 miles....800 meters short of their normal course. Times were fairly meaningless due to the circumstances, but we competed and also look forward to our season bests at the district meet.
Oct 24th-District Meet @ Cameron Yoe Middle School
RESULTS:
The girls varsity cross country team convincingly qualified for regionals this
morning with an outstanding performance by the team. Six of the seven
runners ran season bests and a very smart race, instituting the pack
run tactic better than anyone else in the district. I am extremely
proud of that group. They have worked very hard this season and
deserve every accomplishment they received. It was a pleasure to watch
and I hope you can find the time to congratulate them-they made our
school very proud with their effort.
Varsity runners included: Kelsey Abbott, Kristen Meyer, Britney
Berlin, Dione Cantera, Kayla Outlaw, Melanie Locklear, Nicki Gloris.
Johnny Els also qualified as a boys individual finishing in the top 10
(8th). He ran a very smart race by marking the first 10 runners for
the first mile and conserving his energy to attack the pack in the
back half of the race. He qualified convincingly by passing and
running away from the 9th and 10th place runners and finishing strong.
Again, very proud of his effort as I was with all the boys who ran.
Both varsity groups represented our school very well. Varsity Boys
included: Johnny Els, Matthew Donahue, Nick Babyak, Sam Spangler, Phil
Gearing, Ryan McKenzie.
Other notes: Sheridan Skurupy won the JV girls division!
Alexa Billington and Corrie Edborg earned medals in JV division (9th
and 10th respectively).
If the VGirls race calculated the top 7 finishers rather than top 5,
VG would have won district handily, indicating we were the best team
in the district from runners 1 thru 7.
The JV Girls team won the district in their division!
