Welcome to Math Class!

Hi! My name is Kay Goecker and I teach 6th Grade Math. I have been teaching for over 20 years and this is my 8th year at Lago Vista Middle School. I have taught in various school districts and have a Master’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State University. I was born in Dallas, Texas but have lived in Chicago, Los Angeles, Iowa, Houston, and Austin. Out of all of the places I’ve taught, Lago Vista School District has been my most enjoyable years of teaching. That’s because Lago Vista has great students!

In sixth grade math we have PreAP Math and Regular Math classes. We will be covering many concepts involving knowledge of numbers, computation, estimation, measurement, geometry, probability, statistics, patterns and functions, ratios and proportions, and the fundamental concepts of algebra through a problem-solving approach. Classroom activities will provide students the opportunity to work both individually and in small groups. Many skills will be taught using power point presentations which also gives students the opportunity to receive immediate feedback by using "clickers" (Student Response Cards). As you can see this will be a very busy year!
