We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students, teachers and staff in being recognized by the state as an exemplary campus, the highest ranking the state awards. Our commitment to excellence and high expectations will continue throughout the 2009-2010 school year. Congratulations Vikings for a job well done!
We are looking forward to the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. On August 25th, all students will meet in the high school gym at 8:00 a.m. for first day instructions and information. We will have Open House/Curriculum Night on September 28th from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The event will begin in the high school gym with introductions of our staff and then teachers will be in their rooms to visit with parents and students. Please mark the date and time on your calendars and come visit the LVHS staff and your student’s teachers.
New student packets are available in the high school office and if you have any questions please contact Trisha Towal, LVHS counselor, at 267-8300 ext. 2503. New students who plan on being in athletics will also need to complete a separate packet and meet with Alan Haire, LVHS Athletic Director.
We are happy to have the following educators joining the Lago Vista High School family.
Leticia Saba is rejoining the LVHS team and our Spanish department. Leticia will be teaching Spanish I and Spanish II. She is a 2000 graduate of St. Edwards University with a B.A. in Spanish Bilingual Education.
Tina Pasak is a 1997 graduate of The University of Houston with a B.A. in English. Ms. Pasak started her teaching career in 1998 and has taught English I, English II, English II Pre-AP, Theater and Speech. Tina will be joining our English department and teaching English I and English II.
Tracy Wancho is a 1984 graduate of Texas Tech University with a BS in Special Education and Home Economics. She will be joining us as our 18+ Transition Program teacher and has 23 years of experience in special education. She has been a District Special Olympics Coordinator in the past and was a Special Olympics Head Coach in 4 different sports for 13 years.
Gary Dulany is joining us as our business teacher and will also be coaching several different sports. Gary graduated in 1984 from Southwest Texas State University with a BBA in Finance. Prior to beginning his teaching career, Mr. Delany owned and operated several businesses and has real world experiences he will be able to share with our students.
Andrew Stehn, a 2006 University of North Texas graduate, will be our Assistant Band Director. Andrew has a Bachelor of Music degree in General Music-Instrumental/Band. Andrew is a familiar face on our campus after spending most of last year mentoring and tutoring many of our math and science students. He also worked with our band program and as a private music lesson instructor.
