Dear Parents,
Welcome to 5th grade! This begins a brand new school year for all of us, and I’d like to extend a warm welcome to my students and parents. This year is a particularly exciting one for us because 17 of my students were in my room last year. I decided to “loop up” with my class because they are such a terrific group! If your child wasn’t with me, don’t worry! We’ll get everyone caught up and we will have a great year. I am so excited to be able to teach your children again this year. We will grow and learn together through questioning, inquiry, hands-on experiences, and cooperative learning. This will be my 11th year to teach at Lago Vista Elementary School. I have an incredible family that includes my fabulous 5 year old son, Konnor, and my fantastic 4 year old, Kendall. We enjoyed spending our summer at the pool, playing soccer, reading, watching movies, and taking a trip to visit Port Aransas. I love to run, play soccer, read, and write.
My hope is to help your child learn and grow in a respectful environment. I have high expectations and goals for both my students and myself. I believe that the key to any child’s success is communication. I will always be available to meet with you when times are convenient for both of us. I view the team of parent, child, and teacher as a partnership to enhance learning. I look forward to working with you this year.
5th grade is an exciting year in many ways. Your students will be engaged in reading, writing, spelling, math, science, and social studies. I plan to integrate as many technology tools as possible this year.
