If your child has difficulties with these readings, please encourage them to join our study group. We will be having study sessions in the classroom on Mondays and Tuesdays, during lunch. Thank you for your support in this. On weeks that we do not have school on Mondays, the readings will be due on Fridays.
Weekly Spelling Work: Unit 30 Review Unit
Unit 30 is a review of the last few units
Important Note: Mr. Simons has upgraded his membership to Spelling City! Each student has their own sign in code. The password is Simons for everyone. This allows the student more game and work options. Please peruse with your child. Thank you.

Each student has a spelling menu to choose activities from; three choices are due on Friday. The lists are also on a website that has interactive games. They have many options for homework that can be done in many different formats.
1. Click: www.spellingcity.com/

2. Then click the tab "Student Login"

3. Type "student's personal password" in the user name and type 'simons' as the password; your child has been given their code.

4. Find the Unit Number of the current week. Find the number of words on your student's list; each list will be labeled by the number of words on your students list. These should match.
5. Spelling lists are given out on Mondays and all of the homework is due on Fridays.
6. On weeks when we do not have school on Mondays, there will be two spelling options due, and three on full weeks.
Weekly Reading Homework: We are covering reading logs in class through our book clubs.
**No reading logs for remainder of year. Students should read for a half an hour each night. Please encourage this. If your student is a resistant reader, it is helpful to read with them and discuss their book.

Thank you for checking their reading logs.
1. As the year progresses, we will be focusing on different reading skills in class. At home they have a menu to choose from and should choose one each night.
2. Please look for their reading log and sign it each night.
3. Please check their reading log to make certain that their tasks were completed.
New Book Club Means New Book Project!
We are starting a new book club. We will read the book and students will create a computerized Jeopardy game that focuses on components of literature such as plot, setting, conflict, resolution, etc. We will then share our games as a class on the Promethean Board.
